Costantino Nivola and Orani Tour
Costantino (called Antine) was a great Sardinian artist. He was born in Orani and during the years of fascist regime, he had to emigrate to the United States, where he became one of the most important artists of his time. The tour offers a visit to the Nivola Museum managed by the Nivola Foundation, and to the Nostra Signora d’Itria Church, which facade was designed by the artist when, already internationally famous, he came back to his native city in 1958. Nivola’s art was extremely different and modern compared to art in Sardinia back then and it produced a surprising effect on the inhabitants of his village. We can appreciate this astonishing effect on Carlo Bavagnoli’s photographs. Through his works and personal memories, the tour aims to show our great artist Costantino Nivola’s art.
